Busier times on streets of Mayo county town as all retail shops reopen after five-month lockdown

A feeling of renewed confidence has swept through the streets of Castlebar today as all retail outlets reopened their doors to customers after being closed for five months due to Covid restrictions.

Shop owners were delighted to get behind their counters again following the longest business lockdown in Europe.

The rise in business activity was reflected in increased traffic levels and footfall.

There were long queues early this morning at a number of stores, including TKMaxx and Penneys
