Garda probe into Westport death continues

GARDA investigations are ongoing into the death of a 40-year-old woman who was found dead in her apartment in Westport on Saturday last.

The deceased was officially named today (Wednesday) as Syliia (pronounced Sylvia) Adamczyk, originally from the Podz area of Poland, who had been working in Westport for some time.

The alarm was raised after her body was discovered in an apartment on Castlebar Street, Westport, early on Saturday afternoon.

A post-mortem examination was carried out on Sunday by a forensic pathologist, Dr. Heidi Okkers.

Dr. Okkers’ findings are not being released by gardaí.

A family member has arrived in Mayo to arrange for the repatriation of the remains to Poland from Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar.

A garda spokesman this afternoon confirmed that their investigations into the death are ongoing.
