Go-ahead for €95 million Meissner expansion in Mayo's county town

PLANS for a multi-million euro expansion at the Meissner Filtrations Products plant in Castlebar have received the green light from Mayo County Council.

The company will more than double their workforce in the county town to 450 when the new €95 million expansion plans come to fruition.

A subsidiary of the US-headquartered medical technology company, Meissner are based at the Castlebar Business and Technology Park at Drumconlon.

The expanded plant will provide additional production capability principally around the assembly of components and associated activities.

Planning was sought for an administrative office and warehousing facility expansion, with an office building, roof plant area and warehouse, packaging, shipping and receiving areas.

The development includes 215 car parking spaces.

Meissner are undertaking a multi-million euro investment as part of projected expansion proposals over the next four years as well as creating circa 250 jobs and consolidating their existing 200 employees.
