All-Ireland football final 2018 may retain September date

ALTHOUGH the GAA Congress earlier this year voted in favour of moving the 2018 All-Ireland hurling and football finals to August, this may not happen. . .if reports today are accurate.

While the hurling decider will be played in August the football final may have to out to the first Sunday in September.

The reason for this is to accommodate the possible visit of the Pope to Ireland next August.
