Coast Guard call-out after vehicle collided with pier wall

BALLYGLASS Coast Guard Unit in north Mayo has reported that it was tasked by MRSC Malin earlier today after a vehicle with a number of passengers collided with a pier wall and ended up in the water.

Its first response team quickly assembled and proceeded to the scene.

A short time later the unit was contacted again by MRSC Malin and informed that they had received a call from the gardaí at the scene.

They confirmed that the casualties were out of the vehicle and were being attended to by HSE ambulance crew.

On foot of this information, the unit was stood down and returned to base.

The location where the accident occurred has not yet been revealed.
