Pedestrian injured in town centre accident

A PEDESTRIAN has sustained injuries after being  knocked down by a vehicle near Castlebar town centre this evening.

The accident occurred in the vicinity of the County Library shortly after 6 p.m.

The emergency services were called to the scene and the pedestrian was transferred by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital nearby. It is understood the injuries sustained are not life-threatening.

Traffic diversions were in place for a short period.
