Barrett set to make his return to Mayo squad

CHRIS Barrett is expected to return to the Mayo senior football squad this week after recovering from a knee injury.

The Belmullet ace has not lined out for his county since picking up the injury during the International Rules series in Australia in December.

Mayo manager Stephen Rochford confirmed his return to fitness.

However, Brendan Harrison and Donal Vaughan will miss the remainder of the league campaign with hamstring and hip injuries, respectively.

Paddy Durcan is continuing his recovery from a leg injury while Keith Higgins is scheduled to return to the panel when Mayo's National Hurling League campaign draws to a close.

Such is the competitive nature of the Allianz National Football League, Mayo's battle against top flight relegation is likely to go down to the final game against Donegal at Ballybofey on March 25 even if a win is achieved against Tyrone next Sunday in Castlebar.
