CHAMBERS Ireland has today revealed the shortlist for the Excellence in Local Government Awards 2018.

Mayo County Council has been short-listed in four categories: Health & Wellbeing - It's for Girls initiative; Supporting Tourism - Wild Mayo tourism brand development and marketing campaign; Sustaining the Arts - Mayo Arts Service, Hearth project - art for older people at home; and Festival of the Year category - Mayo County Council's communications department for Mayo Day: Made of Mayo.

This year marks the 15th edition of the awards, which feature 21 local authorities shortlisted over 16 categories.

Commenting on the announcement of the shortlist, Ian Talbot, chief executive of Chambers Ireland, said: “The extraordinary range and ambition of the projects which have been put forward this year exemplifies the vital work carried out by local authorities all over the country.

We are always encouraged to see that local authorities, regardless of their size, consistently work hard to deliver quality services while striving to innovate. We are therefore very pleased to have the opportunity each year to showcase this work though our Excellence in Local Government Awards.”

The winners will be announced at the annual awards ceremony on November 22 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry.
