Claremorris and Ballinrobe centres 'will provide superb local healthcare'

THE Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, is today officially opening Primary Care Centres in Claremorris and Ballinrobe.

The centres, which have been built with government funding, will provide modern facilities for a significant range of primary care services; delivered by locally based, multi-disciplinary Primary Care Teams.

Minister Ring said: “These brand new, state of the art health facilities will provide people living in the towns of Claremorris and Ballinrobe as well as those in nearby communities with superb locally based healthcare across a range of disciplines.”

Services available public health nursing with wound management and child health clinics, occupational therapy and physiotherapy for adults, speech and language therapy,

In addition, Claremorris Primary Care Centre will have accommodation for dental services, orthodontics, dietetics, podiatry, psychology and counselling as well as schools nursing and other paediatric services

Ballinrobe Primary Care Centre will also have accommodation for orthotic services, social workers, environmental health, senior medical officers and schools nursing and other paediatric services. There will also be a broad range of mental health services available at the Haven unit in the centre including Medical and nursing assessment and support, vocational and addiction counselling, psychological and social work interventions, family therapy, anxiety management, community outreach, anxiety management and recovery groups.

Minister Ring continued: “We now have 124 primary care centres operational throughout the country. They have a key role to play in delivering a reformed health service and are the focus of the government’s efforts to provide health services in the local community for the benefit of the community. Through these new Primary Care Centres in Claremorris and Ballinrobe we can deliver better care, closer to people’s homes in their local communities.

“I wish the staff and those providing services in both locations every success. These primary care centres are wonderful additions to these communities and I know that local people will benefit from them for years to come.”
