Gardaí issue appeal after robbery from top Mayo sports club

ONE of the top soccer clubs in Mayo has been stripped by thieves.

All of its pitch maintenance equipment – including a powerful lawnmower- and other equipment and gear was stolen at the weekend in what represents a significant loss to the club.

They were robbed from Westport United F.C. sometime between Friday evening and this morning (Monday).

The pitch is situated at Golf Course Road on the outskirts of the seaside town.

Also taken from the nearby Industrial Estate was a small, open bodied, truck with a crane attached.

It is suspected the truck may have been used to transport materials stolen from the soccer club premises.

The registration number of the stolen truck is 12 MO 3679.

Gardai at Westport are appealing for anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity over the weekend in the Gold Course Road area to contact them at 098-25555.
