Kudos and gripes regarding ice rink

THE success of the ice rink in bringing business to Castlebar and providing employment was highlighted by Councillor Martin McLoughlin (FF) at a meeting of Castlebar Municipal District (MD).

Forty-two young people were employed for a number of weeks, the councillor said.

He added that as well the ice rink had brought more people to the town than it had in 2017.

However, the cathaoirleach, Councillor Michael Kilcoyne, sounded a less enthusiastic note.

I hope people get a refund for the final night when the rink was closed,” he stated.

Councillor McLoughlin: That's being looked after. They can go online.

Cathaoirleach: Forty per cent of people in this area have no broadband. So going online to get your refund is not an answer.
