Passing of popular Westport personality

THE death has taken place of Nicky Lambert, Altamount Street, Westport, and late of Bush, Tagoat, Rosslare, Co. Wexford.

He was a former member of the Defence Forces, attached to the 5th Cavalry Squadron, Castlebar, and was a member of the staff of Allergan Pharmacecuticals, Westport, for many years.

Paying tribute to him today, local Councillor Christy Hyland said the deceased was held in very high regard in the community.

“He was a sincere and good-natured personality and will be sadly missed. I extend deepest sympathy to the bereaved family,” he added.

He is mourned by his wife Maureen, sons Charlie (Mayo Sports Partnership) and Michael, daughters Sinéad, Maura, Cathriona, Úna, Gráinne, daughter-in-law Rosemary, Michael's partner Deirdre, sons-in-law José, Michéal, John, Neil and Brian, his 20 grandchildren, brother William and his wife Ann, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, relatives, neighbours and friends.

The late Mr. Lambert was predeceased by his son Nicky Jnr. and sister Josie.

His remains will be reposing in Navin's Funeral Home, Westport, tomorrow (Tuesday) evening from 4.30 to 6.30 p.m.

Funeral will arrive at St. Mary's Church, Westport, on Wednesday at 11.45 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 12.30 p.m.

Burial takes place afterwards in Aughagower Cemetery.
