Educate Together has announced Niall Quinn as the newly-appointed principal of Westport Educate Together National School, opening in August 2019.
Niall holds a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Master’s Degree in Additional Support Needs. His Master’s research focused on the impact of a literacy intervention on children in upper primary classes.
Niall began his teaching career in Finglas, Dublin, in 2003 and has been principal of Holy Family NS, Dún Laoghaire, since January 2017. He will be relocating from Dublin to Westport with his wife Fiona and two children.
“I consider myself a highly inclusive individual and teacher and encourage those around me to share my commitment to inclusive practices,” said Niall. “I am extremely excited by the challenge of leading a new school in Westport and look forward to building strong relationships with the children, families and wider community.”
Jennifer Buttner, school manager of Westport ETNS, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Niall as principal of Westport ETNS. His commitment to the success of the school is evident and he has the drive and ambition to ensure that Westport ETNS thrives and becomes a major asset to the local community.”
Vivienne Bourke, parent and Start-up Group member, said that as a native of Westport, she's delighted that she and her soncan be a part of the long-awaited Westport Educate Together school opening in August.
There will be a public information meeting on Tuesday next, March 19, at 7 p.m. in Hotel Westport. All parents/guardians of children starting junior infants in 2019 are invited along and meet the new principal and find out what Westport Educate Together National School can offer.
Accommodation for the school is currently being finalised and will be announced in the coming weeks. Enrolment for junior infants starting school in 2019 is open until March 25 and can be accessed at www.educatetogether.ie/westport.
