Toasting St. Patrick in Lebanon with Mitzi’s Mezze and Kelly’s Pudding

Kelly’s of Newport products find their way around the globe, especially to celebrate our national saint’s day.

Right now, Kelly’s Pudding and Vegetarian Pudding are making their way to Lebanon to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in style at the world-famous Lebanese Eddésands Hotel & Wellness Resort.

Previously, Kelly’s products have winged their way across the Atlantic to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in embassies in New York and Washington.

“We’re proud to see our products showcased in gala events all around the world”, said Seán Kelly, “However we’re just as proud to see them on Irish dinner tables week in and week out. We value every single customer and thank them for their loyalty”.

Irish owned Mitzi’s Mezze will help cater the Lebanon event which is hosted by Alice Eddé, a renowned Irish-American hotelier living in Byblos, who always celebrates St. Patricks Day.

Guests can expect to be treated to Irish gin, butter, cheese, breads, preserves, meats and chocolates to introduce cuisine, beverages and products from the Emerald Isle to a select group of guests in Byblos.

Mitzi’s Mezze is the brain child of Tipperary woman Mary Toomey. A graduate of Ballymaloe Cookery School with a strong interest in North-African and Middle Eastern food, Mary started Mitzi’s Mezze as a Supper Club in Galway and over the years she has carved out a niche catering service:

"I’ve visited Jordan, Egypt, Turley, Syria (before the civil war), Israel, Palestine and Morocco, but Lebanon is something special altogether” Mary Toomey explains, “The people are so friendly and warm and the countryside is beautiful, but the food is the reason I keep going back. When the opportunity came to collaborate with Alice this year for St. Patricks Day, I was more than delighted”.

Mitzi’s Mezze is bringing a few of Mary’s favourite foods from home to showcase at the event.

“Wherever I am in the world I love to promote the great produce we have here in Ireland. And when I am cooking Middle Eastern food in Ireland, I like to marry the two together”.

Kelly's Butchers will be featured at this event, along with produce from Blackwater Distillery, McCambridge’s, McGeough’s, An Olivia chocolate, Glenstal Foods, Glenilen Farm, The Little Mill, Aran Islands Goat Cheese, Blath na Mara, Gran Gran Foods and Kinvara Salmon.
