Mayo GAA supporters in Time Square 'take over'

HUNDREDS of Mayo GAA supporters have 'taken over' Time Square in New York ahead of Sunday's Connacht SFC opener in the city.

They converged on the iconic location to sing 'The Green and Red of Mayo' in a unique and colourful celebration of their love of their home county and its senior football team.

The event fell into place following a social media appeal by former Mayo goalkeeper John Madden.

It is estimated that in excess of 7,000 supporters have made the journey from Mayo to the match. . .even though a routine win is on the cards.

RTÈ Sport's GAA commentator Marty Morrissey, accompanied by a cameraman, arrived at the location to cover the memorable occasion for posterity.

Further evidence, if it was needed, that Mayo supporters are the most loyal in Ireland.
