Air Corps responding to gorse fire in Ballycroy

THE Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, has confirmed that the Air Corps is en route to Ballycroy to deal with a gorse fire outbreak.

Minister Ring said: “Earlier today I got a call from Councillor Gerry Coyle alerting me to a serious gorse fire in Ballycroy and conveying the need for external assistance.

“I have spoken with the Minister for Defence, Paul Kehoe TD and he has confirmed to me that the Air Corps is now en route to deal with the fire. The Air Corps is due to arrive in Ballycroy at approximately 4:30 p.m. today.

“There has been a number of gorse fires in recent days due to the warm weather. I sincerely thank the Air Corps for their assistance on behalf of the local community in Ballycroy” concluded Minister Michael Ring.
