€8,000 funding for two Mayo museums

FUNDING of €8,000 has been allocated to the Michael Davitt Museum and Knock Museum.

The Michael Davitt Museum is to receive €4,500 for an exhibition, talks and outreach programme on land wars. A further €3,500 has been allocated for an exhibit to enhance the exhibition at Knock Museum.

Minister Michael Ring has welcomed the funding, announced under the Regional Museum Exhibitions Scheme, which provides funding support for local and regional museums

Grants are provided for capital works which enhance the exhibition/display facilities within the museum or which promote access to the museum.

He commented: “I am delighted with this allocation to County Mayo which supports an important part of our culture and heritage and this funding will enhance the exhibitions in our communities.”
