Horan hits back at criticism of Mayo training methods

MAYO manager James Horan has hit back at criticism of his squad training methods.

Speaking after yesterday's evening one-point win over Armagh in the third round of the All-Ireland SFC qualifier, he said the claims were 'absolutely ridiculous'.

The question was posed to him at the post-match press conference and in the aftermath of Matthew Ruane and Diarmuid O'Connor recently picking up long-term injuries in training while Lee Keegan and Jason Doherty both cried off injured against Armagh.

Horan responded: "Come to training. People are commenting on stuff and it's absolutely ridiculous.

"We take a game-based approach to our training by playing games.

"It's a team sport where there are 30 players on the field and there will be injuries."
