Major fire in Mayo town centre building

A major fire in an apartment on O'Rahilly Street has caused traffic disruption in Ballina town centre this afternoon.

The blaze broke out earlier today in an apartment over McKane's Pharmacy and that and adjacent buildings have been evacuated. There were no injuries reported arising out of the incident.

Emergency services have been at the scene for over an hour and traffic diversions have been put in place, causing delays around Ballina town centre.
