Ruddy drafted in to sligo panel

FORMER Mayo goalkeeper Fintan Ruddy has been drafted in to the Sligo panel ahead of the Connaught final next Sunday.

Ruddy, who was last involved with Mayo in the 2006 national league, has lived in Co. Sligo since his return from Australia last year.

A native of Glenamoy, Ruddy made his debut for Mayo in the 2003 Connaught SFC final against Galway at the tender age of 20. He was involved with the Mayo set-up for the next three years.

While resident in Australia, Ruddy made the long trip home to help his club, Cill Chomain, win the Mayo county junior championship final in 2013. He was also the winner of the All-Ireland Kick Fada competition in 2007.

Aidan Devaney is Sligo's first-choice goalkeeper, with Eoin McDonagh his understudy.
