O'Malley earns Ireland call-up

WESTPORT man Conor O'Malley has been called up to the provisional Ireland squad for three forthcoming friendlies, his club Peterborough United has announced on its official website.

Conor played in goal for Westport United at underage level before making a name for himself in the League of Ireland with St. Patrick's Athletic. That earned him a move last summer to League One side Peterborough, where he made a number of appearances during the course of the season.

The call-up is for the friendlies against Celtic (Scott Brown's testimonial), France and the USA. The full squad has yet to be announced, and O'Malley - who has not represented his country at any of the younger age groups - will find out if he has made the full squad in the next 10 days.
