IT'S official.

James Horan has tonight been ratified as manager of the Mayo senior football team at a meeting of the county board.

Horan has been given a four-year term.

His backroom team all come from within the county, with selectors Daniel Ford, Ballycastle, James Burke, Ardnaree, Martin Barrett, Kiltane, and Conor Finn, Claremorris. Joe Doyle from Westport is operations manager.

In a statement James Horan said he is looking forward to getting out on the training pitch with the players. He added all clubs will be contacted as work begins to form a squad.

There was no reference at tonight's county board meeting of a role for former Mayo ace Ciaran McDonald despite speculation on social media linking him with a position.
