Shauna ends busy weekend with a national gold medal

MAYO karate star Shauna Mullaney has won a gold medal in the IKKU Open in Dublin.

The 21-year-old Meelick ace picked up the title on Saturday. . .just hours after being presented with the Melissa Patterson Perpetual Cup as the best overall female nominee at The Connaught Telegraph Sports Star of the Year for 2018 at Breaffy House Hotel.

Shortly after the banquet, she left for the capital to ensure her attendance at the prestigious competition and it proved all worthwhile.

It underlined the determination and ambition of Shauna as she steps up her bid to qualify for next year's Olympic Games in Tokyo.
