St. Colman's seal Connacht Colleges crown

ST. Colman's College, Claremorris, have been crowned Connacht Colleges Senior A champions tonight.

They scored a deserved one-point victory over gallant St. Gerald's College, Castlebar, at Elverys MacHale Park.

The south Mayo side face the Ulster champions in the All-Ireland semi-final on Wednesday week.

Six points by James Jennings was a key factor in the Claremorris triumph.

The sides were deadlocked, 0-10 to 1-7, at half-time, a goal by Ciaran Mylett keeping Castlebar's hopes alive.

St. Colman's raced into a three-point lead early in the second half with Ethan Henry leading the charge.

But Castlebar kept in touch thanks to the efforts of Rory O'Reilly and Aaron McHale.

The strength of St. Colman's came to the fore in the closing quarter with telling points by the influential Jennings and Henry.
