Conflicting reports over alleged after-match Croke Park incident

THERE are conflicting reports tonight over an incident that is alleged to have occurred at Croke Park today after Mayo lifted the Allianz National League title.

RTÈ sports journalist Des Cahill reported on Twitter that injured Mayo player Tom Parsons was not allowed by stewards to join his team-mates on the pitch for the post-match celebrations.

He stated: "I'm livid. A man who has given so much to his county, dedicated his past year to recovering from a horrific injury.

"He is a proper GAA hero."

However, Paul Cunnane, public relations officer of Mayo County Board, told the Irish Independent Tom was on the pitch for the celebrations.
