Time running out for 29 million lotto winner to claim jackpot

A €2.9 million winning Lotto ticket bought in the Claremorris branch of Tesco on November 29 remains unclaimed. Whoever purchased the €3 Quickpick ticket has until Friday week (February 27) to claim their money.

The winning €3 quickpick ticket was purchased at the Tesco branch, Silverbridge, Knock Road, Claremorris.

The numbers drawn were 7, 8, 18, 28, 35, 39, and the bonus number was 37.

A spokesperson for the National Lottery commented: “So far nobody has come forward to claim the prize.”

Ticketholders have 90 days for the date of the draw to claim prizes. Unclaimed large prizes are rare, according to the National Lottery, but it does happen.

There have been 12 unclaimed Lotto jackpots since Lotto began in 1988. The last unclaimed Lotto jackpot was in 2003.

If the prize is unclaimed, the funds are used to promote the National Lottery and so increase the funds raised for good causes. This can include the funding of special draws and additional/top-up prizes.

Speculation is rife in Claremorris that the winning ticket was purchased by someone passing through the town as opposed to a local.
