Mayo manchester launch a truly irish pie for st patricks day

Mayo Manchester launched a special shamrock steak and Guinness pie at the 2015 Manchester Irish Festival, created by the Levenshulme-based artisan bakery, Life of Pie.

The pie was launched on Saturday at the newly opened Fred's Ale House, Coffee Bar and Art Gallery in Levenshulme.

Lawrence Hennigan, the festival website's marketing director and a director of Mayo Manchester, commented: “We wanted to do something to celebrate our 20th anniversary and asked Wendy Orr from the Life of Pie to create us something special. It has caused quite a stir on our social media sites with lots of positive feedback from all over the globe.

“I don't think I have ever seen a Guinness shamrock pie before. It goes perfectly with the shamrock logos we train our staff to put on the pints of Guinness.

“Customers are loving it and are buying the hand-crafted pie to send to their friends all round the world and back home to Mayo.

“We have Wendy working on one for Mayo Day, so watch this space.”

The Manchester Irish Festival is Europe's biggest Irish festival, running from March 6 to Friday, March 20. Highlights still to come include a host of concerts and sold out shows.
