Mayo roads blessed to help halt deaths
Fr. John Kenny, parish priest of Partry/Tourmakeady, recited prayers for greater road safety when he blessed the main road outside St. Mary's Church, Partry. The road is located on the main Castlebar to Galway route, one of the busiest in the county.
Eleven people were killed on the county’s roads in 2014 compared to six the previous year.
According to the Road Safety Authority, 53 people have died on Mayo roads since 2009.
