Homeland officially opened in castlebar

Taoiseach Enda Kenny was on hand to officially open the new Homeland store in Castlebar.

The opening of the store at Moneen marked the end of a good week for parent company Aurivo which has announced a significant increase in its profibability in the past 12 months.

In 2014, operating profits increased by some 70 per cent to €8.9 million. In a year of continued growth for the co-operative, turnover was €447 million, down from €454 million in 2013. However, operating profit came in at €8.92m. (€5.25m. in 2013). Nett debt was €1.4m, down from €12.9m. in 2013.

Commenting on the results, Aaron Forde, chief executive of Aurivo, said: “2014 was another year of achievement for the co-operative, where the business delivered a strong milk price performance, a stellar financial result and an exceptional operational outturn.”
