Funeral arrangements of mayo accident victim announced

THE funeral arrangements have been announced of Mr. John McNicholas, Lismirrane, Bohola, who died in a road traffic accident in Knockmore, Co. Mayo, yesterday morning.

His remains will be reposing at his residence on Thursday evening from 5 o’clock until 9 o’clock. Removal is on Friday morning to the Church of the Immaculate Conception and St. Joseph, Bohola for Funeral Mass at 11.30 with burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Bohola.

The deceased, a Mayo County Council worker, died after being struck by a tar spraying unit during road mending operations.

An investigation is underway into the cause of his death. A married man in his 50s, Mr. McNicholas was directing tar spraying works on a narrow road near Knockmore, Ballina, around 9.20am on Tuesday morning when the incident occurred.

Mr. McNicholas is survived by his wife, Ann, his 86-year-old mother, Ann, and four children, two boys and two girls, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.
