Progress on major credit union extension

WORK is progressing steadily on a major new extension to Castlebar Credit Union at Market Square in the town.

An eye-catching crane is on site today transferring heavy concrete materials to the site which is directly behind the existing offices and facing onto Market Square car park.

When completed early next year, the new credit union will be one of the largest in the country, providing a wider range of services to its growing membership.

A progress report will be provided at next Tuesday's annual general meeting of the organisation when it is planned to change the name of Castlebar Credit Union to First Choice Credit Union.

There is also a motion before the meeting to undertake the transfer of engagements from Achill Credit Union Limited to Castlebar Credit Union Limited in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Credit Union Act 1997.

Earlier this year, Ballyhaunis Credit Union amalgamated with Castlebar.
