Anna Geary

Premiere of The Camogie Show

HIGHLY regarded former Cork camogie player Anna Geary explores the past, present and future of the sport in Ireland in a new six-part series that starts tonight (March 3) on Irish TV.

Retired star Anna Geary will host The Camogie Show, which has been produced in association with the Munster Camogie Council and intends to 'inform viewers of what the sport means to so many people'.

With four All-Star awards and four All-Irelands to her name, Anna is looking forward to highlighting the sport on Irish TV.

She said: “The whole idea of this is to give the country a flavour of camogie and how much work that goes into it, from under age at the grassroots right up to county level. I think it’s really important that people get to see females coming to the fore - we see our male county players on television all the time.

“This is an opportunity for us to see the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes in camogie and not just the players, but the management, those involved in administration and those that keep the show going, from making the sandwiches to washing the jerseys. This really is everybody’s show and I am really excited to be involved.”

Anna will be joined by a number of special guests and sports stars throughout the series, including famous names such as Davy Fitzgerald and Seán Óg Ó hAilpín.

Tune in tonight from 8 p.m. Irish TV can be viewed on Sky channel 191, all free to air boxes, Freesat 400, Eir’s eVision 191 and online at www.irishtv.ie.
