Holiday weekend will be wet and windy

THE Easter Bank Holiday weekend will be wet and windy, according to Met. Eireann.

There will be further heavy rain and showers throughout tomorrow, but clearer weather will slowly extend northwards later in the afternoon.

It will become windy during the second half of the day as blustery westerly winds develop. Feeling cold with highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees.

Generally, the weekend will be cold and at times as well as wet and windy.

There is a high level of uncertainty regarding the development of a low pressure system over Ireland on Sunday and the track of a further low pressure system on Monday close to the southeast of Ireland.

Saturday night will start wet and windy but rain will clear to scattered showers later. It will turn colder with lowest temperatures falling to around 2 to 5 degrees.

Sunday will be a cold and breezy day with bright or sunny spells. It will turn showery with the risk of hail or thunder. Showers will die out on Sunday night and winds moderate for a time. However, there is the risk of heavy rain in the south spreading northeastwards in freshening winds.

Monday is likely to start wet and windy but the rain is likely to clear to scattered showers with some sunny spells later.

It will stay unsettled early next week but winds are likely to decrease light to moderate with scattered showers and sunny spells and the risk of frost at nights.
