Lauryn has an eye for maths

MAYO pupil Lauryn Carney certainly has an eye for maths.

A fifth class student at St. Aidan's National School in Kiltimagh, Lauryn has been named overall winner in her category, Under 11s, in the National Maths Eyes poster competition.

Maths Week Ireland promotes awareness, appreciation and understanding of maths through a huge variety of events and activities, including the Maths Eye poster competition.

As part of Maths Week 2015/16, Lauryn entered the competition and her entry was shortlisted for her category.

She and her family travelled to Tallaght IT in Dublin (home of Maths Eye) to await the results and were delighted when she was announced as overall winner.

Lauryn received a trophy marking the occasion and her poster was also enlarged and given to her as a memento.

Well done to Lauryn on her wonderful achievement.
