Mayo hair stylist wins top award

HAIR stylist Daina Petrauskiene, Bliss Hair and Beauty, Castlebar, has won the Alfaparf Milano Fantastic Long Hair Stylist Award at the Alfaparf Milano Fantastic Hairdresser Awards 2016. The most attended ceremony in the hairdressing industry on the island of Ireland, the awards took place in The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Ballsbridge.

The awards give stylists an opportunity to showcase both their creative strengths and commercial acumen, through six artistic, two business and the Alfaparf Milano Inixia photographic awards. Winners are recognised and acknowledged as representing the best in Ireland’s hairdressing industry.

The awards’ prestige guarantees a large volume of contestants, with almost 1,250 hairdressers from all over Ireland dedicating months of hard work preparing their entries for the nine competition categories.

Acclaimed stylist, designer and TV presenter Brendan Courtney hosted the logistically massive, sold-out evening show and presentation of awards.

In recognition of the late David Bowie’s fashion and style iconic status, all the artistic and creative elements presented Bowie themed segments and the results were a spectacular tribute to one of most influential cultural and artistic heroes of his - or any other - generation.

The awards were judged by a panel comprising five internationally renowned industry experts - Desmond Murray, Gina Conway, Joseph Koniak, Ruben Ugarte and Marijana Habek.
