Double celebration at progressive Mayo sports club

SNUGBORO United Football Club had a double celebration today.

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny unveiled a plaque to mark the official opening of the club's facilities.

The special occasion coincided with the club's 30th anniversary celebrations.

An Taoiseach praised the club members for their outstanding achievement in building such a top class complex to cater for the young people of a very progressive community.

He said it stood as a testimony to the work and dedication of so many people since 1986 and the future looked exceedingly bright due to the growth of club's underage boys and girls teams.

During his visit, An Taoiseach made a number of presentations to adult and underage teams and players.

He was accompanied by Minister of Sport Patrick O'Donovan who said every community in Ireland should aspire to having facilities like Snugboro FC.

Deputy O'Donovan also paid tribute to An Taoiseach for his commitment to the development of sport throughout Ireland.

There was a big turnout by members of the community for the event as well as representatives of Mayo County Council, Mayo Football League and the Mayo Schoolboys/Girls and Youths League.
