National awards for two Mayo community projects

 

TWO Mayo projects have scooped national accolades at the 2017 LAMA Awards.

They were the Men on the Move initiative (health and wellbeing category) and Ballyhaunis GAA Club (sports club of the year category). Seven other Mayo initiatives had been shortlisted.

The cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Councillor Al McDonnell, stated: “ I acknowledge all of the projects that were submitted for this competition and in particular the nine projects that were names as finalists from Mayo.

“Significant work takes place all around this county where Mayo County Council and communties come together to deliver on new and novel initiatives that benefit all who live in our county.

“A well deserved congratulations to the two projects that won the national awards, Men on the Move and Ballyhaunis GAA Club.”
