Passing of former Mayo hotelier

THE death has taken place of Michael Vincent Ryan, Strandhill, Cong.

A member of a widely known business family, he was the proprietor of Ryan's Hotel in Cong for many years.

Paying tribute to him this afternoon, local Councillor Damian Ryan said the deceased was a very good-natured man who was always positive in his outlook.

'He did a lot of good for people and was dedicated to his family. News of his passing is deeply regretted across the community. He was related to my own family and I extend deepest sympathy to the Ryans on their immense loss,' added Councillor Ryan.  

He is survived by his wife Geraldine, sons Gerard and Simon, brothers Billy and Frank, sisters Anne and Katherine, aunts, uncles, sister-in-law Yvonne, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

His remains will reposing at the Crossroads Community Centre, Cong, this evening (Sunday) from 6 o'clock until 9 o'clock.

Requiem Mass takes place tomorrow (Monday) at 12 o'clock in St. Mary's Church, Cong, with burial afterwards in Lisloughrey Cemetery.
