Balla residents to stage N60 road protest on July 23
THE Ardboley Road Action Committee in Balla is stepping up its campaign for a reduced speed limit and traffic calming measures on the main N60 approach road into the town from Claremorris.
The committee has informed elected members of Castlebar Municipal District that a protest rally will take place at the dangerous Ardboley junction on Sunday, July 23, from 12 noon.
Councillors told the committee at a meeting in Balla on June 8 that they will support the rally in view of the refusal by Transport Infrastructure Ireland to approve a reduction of the speed limit at the location from 100 to 60 kilometres per hour.
Local GP Dr. Jim Broderick is very concerned that a fatal accident will take place on the road unless action is taken urgently.
