Every parent's worst nightmare

RELATIVES and friends in Castlebar are continuing their painful wait for news of David Gavin (26) who has been missing since Friday afternoon in Canada.

David was on the way with friends to play a match in Calgary when they stopped off for a swim.

Local news reports in Canada suggest he jumped 20 metres off a bridge on the Beaver River, surfaced and said he was okay before disappearing from view.

As the search for David continues, his parents, Michael and Angela, have travelled to Canada.

Local anguish is summed up by Councillor Michael Kilcoyne. “It's a terrible time for the whole community,” he said, “every parent's nightmare.”
