Youth denies murder of teenager

A JURY trial began today (Tuesday) at the Central Criminal Court in Castlebar of a youth who has been charged with the murder of Dovydas Jenkas, a teenager, at an address in Claremorris in December 2015.

The accused, who cannot be named for legal reasons, denies murder.

At the opening of the trial this morning, Ms. Justice Eileen Creedon warned the jury not to engage in social media about the case and not to conduct any research on the internet about the matter.

Mr. Dovydas was 17 when he died on December 19, 2015.

The trial is being heard by a jury of 12, seven females and five males. It is expected to last 

up to two weeks.
