Public alert over 'electricity bill' fraudsters

A NEW fraud alert has been issued to the public.

Householders have reported receiving 'phone calls from 'an electricity provider' advising that their bill is overdue and to make immediate payment over the phone or they will be cut off.

The fraudsters give an 1850 number to call back with payment details.

The fear of losing their power has forced some people to make the call despite not having an outstanding amount on their accounts.

It has now been confirmed, however, that the calls being made are a scam and should be completely ignored.

Anybody with doubts can contact their electricty provider about the matter to put their minds at ease.
