MAYO ROSE OF TRALEE CONTESTANT NO. 2: CAITRÍONA ROUGHNEEN, SWINFORD

CAITRÍONA Roughneen, who hails from Swinford, is hoping to represent her county at the Rose of Tralee festival.

Catriona (26) is a primary school teacher in Holy Family Junior School in Swords, teaching a lovely second class.

She is one of 10 ladies who will take to the stage in the McWilliam Park Hotel in Claremorris on Saturday night with the hope of representing Mayo at the annual Rose of Tralee Festival later this summer.

Said Caitríona: “I graduated from St. Patrick’s College with a Bachelor of Education International after spending an extra year studying Education with Music in Kecskemét, Hungary. I have a huge grá for music, travelling and fitness.

I believe each of these aspects have a huge influence on positive mental health and wellbeing.

I have volunteered at various events and summer camps throughout the years, both at home and in the US, including the Michaela camps and the Relay for Life.

I’m so excited to be part of the Mayo Rose and look forward to meeting new people, making new friends and, of course, the experience along the way.”

The Mayo Rose Final takes place on Saturday night at the McWilliam Hotel, Claremorris.

Caitríona is sponsored by Siamsa Sraide street festival, Swinford, who she thanks for their support.
