Minister Ring opens new offices of Mayo firm, O'Malley Tarmacadam

THE Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, has officially opened the new offices of O’Malley Tarmacadam at Ballynew in Castlebar.

In his address Minister Ring said: “It is appropriate that O’Malley Tarmacadam is marking 40 years in business by opening their superb new offices.

“The new offices are a symbol of how far the company has come and of its bright future. No doubt this new premises will provide O’Malley Tarmacadam with the platform to build and expand even further.

“O’Malley Tarmacadam is the type of locally based, family owned business which we should value and support.

"It is a living example of the importance of small and medium sized businesses for local communities.

"The company employs 40 people who, along with their families, play an integral part in their local community and support other local businesses.

“O’Malley Tarmacadam started in 1978 when Mick O’Malley left his job as machinery foreman with Mayo County Council and set off on his own.

“Today, the majority of the work is with clients such as Mayo, Galway, Roscommon and Sligo County Councils, Roadbridge Ltd., Warde & Bourke Ltd, Siac, Baam, Roadstone and Lagan. The company opened brand new offices earlier this year in Castlebar.

“I am delighted to officially open the company’s beautiful new offices which are a long way from the kitchen table where this business started.

"O’Malley Tarmacadam has remained in business by maintaining high standards, due in no small part by focusing on staff development and training.

"Last December the company was presented with three ISO Certificates by the Minister Pat Breen TD.

“This is an international standard dealing with control and health and safety within the workplace which is recognised as a standard of quality around the world.”
