Commitment given on future of Geesala Post Office

A SENIOR official of An Post has confirmed that Geesala Post Office is to remain open despite reports to the contrary.

Angus Lafery, public affairs manager, made the announcement in an email earlier this week to local Councillor Gerry Coyle.

The email stated: “I can confirm that there is no threat to the future of the post office in Geesala which is being run by Pat Gannon, our Postmaster in Foxford.

“We were able to keep the office open following the sad passing of our colleague Michael Henry in June.”

Councillor Coyle said it is positve news for the community.

In a report earlier on this website, Geesala was included on a list of 112 post offices nationwide scheduled for closure.
