Passing of much-loved Erris woman, aged 104

THE death has taken place of Bridget Deane (née Gruddy), Dooyork, Geesala.

In her 105th year, she was predeceased by her husband Pat.

Bridget is survived by her sons Bertie and PJ, daughters Ester, Nora, Barbara and Mary, sons and daughters in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Paying tribute to her this evening, local Councillor Gerry Coyle said Bridget embraced life and was an exceptional community and family person.

“She was a remarkable woman and was reading books on her kindle up to recent times. She had a tremendous memory and knew so much of the unique history of our village. She will be greatly missed. God rest her soul."

Her remains are reposing at her residence from 7 pm this evening until 7 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) before removal to St. Colmcille's Church, Geesala, arriving at 9 p.m.

Requiem Mass take place on Sunday at 1 p.m. with burial afterwards in Geesala Cemetery.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
