Children’s charity day at Supermacs Castlebar

A CHILDREN'S charity fundraising day is happening in Supermacs restaurant, Castlebar, this Saturday, December 8.

Gordon Nimmo’s West Motorsport Rally team, in conjunction with Supermacs Castlebar, are holding a unique afternoon where they are raising funds for children’s cancer charity Hand in Hand West.

This day has a twist because Gordon himself is giving a day's work to the restaurant as a 'thank you' for Supermacs' sponsorship during the year. Any profit raised by the sale of the clothing merchandise, which includes The Connaught Telegraph logo, will be donated to a chosen charity.

Between them, Joan Collins, franchisee and manger of Supermacs, and Gordon picked Hand in Hand - a non-profit organisation which provides families of children with cancer with much-needed practical support.

On the day, the charity will be in attendance giving out information about their services and there will be spot prizes up for grabs.

Any kids meal bought in the restaurant this week will be entered into a free draw for a chance to win a fabulous children’s hamper, which includes a unique rally car and remote control car.

Also joining Gordon on the day will be iMayo TV, who have been making a short documentary about his team and its first year in motorsport along with the recording of the presentation of the cheque raised by the team. The documentary will be sponsored by McAuliffe's Pharmacy.

Over the last few weeks Gordon, on his Facebook pages, has started fundraising and it's already met his target. But he's not finished there and has produced a fabulous car sticker to anyone that donates online - they will be also available to purchase for a small donation via social media or on the day.

Said Gordon: “I’d like to thank enormously everyone who has donated so far and a special thank you to Personalise It, Castlebar, and Totally Toys, Castlebar, for their donations. This hamper will bring a great smile to the winner.”
