Call for greater supports for women in crisis pregnancies

A CALL has been issued to the government for greater supports for women in crisis pregnancies in the western region.

Mayo Senator Michelle Mulherin made the appeal.

She said a great strain was placed on women having to travel long distances to the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin for medical treatment and particularly so for those on low incomes.

The Ballina-based representative said provision needs to be made to ease the burden in these cases.
