Road works on busy Mayo route to last two weeks

ROAD works get underway tomorrow morning on a section of the busy N5 route between Castlebar and Westport.

The project will be concentrated at Drumindoo, Westport, near the Corrib Petrol filling station, and involves the installation of traffic calming measures.

Motorists can expect traffic delays at the location as the works proceed.

The scheme is expected to take up to two weeks to complete.

Mayo County Council has apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Local Councillor Brendan Mulroy advised motorists using the Doon and Derrygorman roads as a bypass to drive slowly.
