Passing of accomplished Mayo musician and bandmaster

THE death has taken place of Michael O'Toole, Mountain View, Drumreevagh East, Ballina.

A native of Belfast, he was an accomplished musician who performed with Mayo Concert Orchestra and Ballina Brass Band for many years.

The deceased also filled the role of bandmaster at Foxford Brass and Reed Band when it reformed a number of years ago.

A former employee of Hollister, news of his passing is widely mourned in the community.

He is survived by his wife Ann, son Lawrence (Ballina), daughters Helen (Ballina) and Ann-Marie Halloran (Germany), brothers Damien and Jim, sisters Maria, Angela, Eileen and Geralyn, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, son-in-law John, daughter-in-law Annette, grandchildren Jonathan, Stephen, Andrew and Karl, aunts, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends, to whom sympthay is tendered

Michael will lay in repose at McGowan's Funeral Home, Ballina, this evening (Wednesday) from 6.30 p.m. with removal at 8.pm to the Church of Christ the King, Knockmore.

Mass of the Resurrection takes place on Thursday morning at 11.am with burial afterwards in Ballinahaglish Cemetery.
